I love stories from the other side. Stories that explore someone’s reaction to someone else’s story.
In the movie Gravity, there is a scene when Sandra Bullock makes radio contact with earth. I’m not going to say much more, because I don’t want to spoil it, but this short film here is the story of the person she makes contact with.
As I have said before, Gravity is a masterpiece of sci-fi film (see episode 91 of the podcast). Easily a contender for best picture, Gravity is also going to be ranked as one of the best movies I have seen this year. And one of the best sci-fi movies ever.
This? There is Oscar buzz for “best short” but I don’t see that. It’s good, don’t get me wrong. And while it was poignant enough without see this half of the conversation, it was interesting to see it. And thematically, it fits with Gravity.
